✨ Genesis 1 — In the Beginning, God
Scripture Focus: Genesis 1
Key Verse: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” — Genesis 1:1
🌿 What Happened
-
God existed before anything else existed. Everything begins with Him.
-
The earth began formless and empty, but God brought structure, order, and fullness.
-
Days 1–3: God formed creation.
-
Day 1 — Light & darkness
-
Day 2 — Sky & waters
-
Day 3 — Land & vegetation
-
-
Days 4–6: God filled what He had formed.
-
Day 4 — Sun, moon & stars
-
Day 5 — Birds & sea creatures
-
Day 6 — Land animals & humanity
-
-
God created through the authority of His Word: He spoke, and creation responded.
-
Humanity was the unique culmination of creation, made in the image and likeness of God.
-
God blessed humanity and gave us responsibility to cultivate, steward, and care for His creation.
-
When God looked at everything He had made, He declared it “very good.”
💗 What This Teaches Me About God
-
God is eternal — He existed before creation.
-
God is powerful — His Word has authority.
-
God is sovereign — everything exists under His rule.
-
God is intentional — creation reveals structure, purpose, and order.
-
God is good — goodness was part of His original design.
-
God is generous — He prepared provision before humanity even arrived.
-
God is personal — He created us in His image, blessed us, spoke to us, and gave us purpose.
-
Even when something looks unfinished, that does not mean God has abandoned it.
🪞 What This Teaches Me About Myself
-
My identity begins with God, not the world's opinion of me.
-
My worth existed before my accomplishments, career, appearance, relationships, finances, education, or anyone's approval.
-
I am an image-bearer of God, which gives my life inherent dignity and purpose.
-
I was created not merely to exist, but to reflect God through the way I live.
-
What God places in my hands is something I am called to steward, not something I independently own.
-
My time, gifts, resources, relationships, opportunities, responsibilities, and influence all matter to God.
🌸 What I’m Taking With Me
-
I want my life to begin where Scripture begins: “In the beginning, God.”
-
Before my plans → God.
-
Before my timeline → God.
-
Before my desires → God.
-
Before my definition of success → God.
-
I need to be careful not to turn created things—money, relationships, success, appearance, approval, comfort, or career—into things I value above the Creator.
-
I want to stop asking only, “What does this Scripture say about me?” and begin first with, “What does this teach me about God?”
-
Instead of asking only what I want to accomplish, I want to ask: “God, how do You want me to steward what You have placed in my hands?”
🙏 My Prayer
-
Lord, help me keep You at the center of my life.
-
Teach me to find my identity in being Your image-bearer rather than in the labels the world gives me.
-
Show me where I need to become a more faithful steward.
-
Reveal anything I have elevated above You.
-
When parts of my life feel unfinished, remind me that unfinished does not mean abandoned.
-
Help me trust Your sovereignty, goodness, provision, and purpose.
-
Let Genesis 1 become more than information I know—use Your Word to transform the way I live.
Truth I’m Holding Onto:
✨ Everything begins with God. My identity begins with God. My purpose begins with God. And everything He places in my hands should ultimately point back to Him.
