5 Faith Habits That Changed My Life

There was a season in my life where I wanted to grow closer to God… but I felt spiritually inconsistent.

Some days I felt motivated and connected to Him.
Other days I felt distracted, overwhelmed, and spiritually drained.

I kept thinking I needed to completely change my life overnight to become a “better Christian.”

But over time, I learned something important:

Strong faith is usually built through small daily habits — not perfection.

Little by little, these habits helped me:

  • Strengthen my relationship with God
  • Find more peace
  • Change my mindset
  • Grow spiritually
  • Trust God more deeply

These habits may seem simple, but they truly changed my life from the inside out. 🤍

1. Starting My Day with God First

One of the biggest changes in my spiritual life happened when I stopped giving God my “leftover time.”

Instead of immediately grabbing my phone or scrolling social media first thing in the morning, I started spending quiet time with God first.

Sometimes this looked like:

  • Reading one scripture
  • Praying for a few minutes
  • Journaling
  • Listening to worship music
  • Sitting quietly with God before the day became busy

Starting my day with God helped me feel:

  • More grounded
  • More peaceful
  • Less anxious
  • More intentional

It reminded me that God should be my foundation before the world starts demanding my attention.

2. Reading the Bible Consistently (Even When I Didn’t Feel Like It)

I used to think Bible study had to be long and perfect to “count.”

But consistency changed everything for me.

Even reading:

  • One chapter
  • A few verses
  • One devotional
  • One scripture reflection

every day slowly transformed my mindset and strengthened my faith.

God’s Word began changing:

  • The way I think
  • The way I respond to challenges
  • The way I view myself
  • The way I handle fear and anxiety

Consistency matters more than perfection.

3. Protecting My Peace

One faith habit that deeply changed my life was learning to protect my peace intentionally.

I realized not everything deserves access to:

  • My mind
  • My energy
  • My emotions
  • My attention

I became more mindful of:

  • What I consumed online
  • What conversations I entertained
  • What environments drained me
  • Who influenced my mindset

Protecting your peace is also part of protecting your spiritual health.

The more I filled my life with:

  • Worship
  • Encouragement
  • Scripture
  • Positive influences
  • Quiet time with God

the more peaceful and spiritually healthy I began to feel.

4. Praying Honestly Instead of Perfectly

For a long time, I thought prayer had to sound polished or impressive.

But some of the most powerful prayers I’ve ever prayed sounded like:
“God, I’m struggling.”
“God, I need help.”
“God, I’m tired.”
“God, I don’t understand.”

I learned that God does not need perfection.
He wants honesty.

Prayer became less about performing and more about genuinely connecting with God.

And honestly?
That changed my relationship with Him completely.

5. Choosing Faith Even in Difficult Seasons

One of the hardest but most life-changing habits was continuing to trust God during seasons where I didn’t understand what He was doing.

Faith is easy when life feels comfortable.

But real growth often happens in:

  • Waiting seasons
  • Uncertain seasons
  • Painful seasons
  • Quiet seasons

I learned that faith is not always about having answers.

Sometimes faith simply means:

  • Continuing to pray
  • Continuing to trust
  • Continuing to believe God is still working
  • Continuing to show up spiritually even when emotions fluctuate

Some of my deepest spiritual growth happened during seasons I never would have chosen.

Final Encouragement 🤍

You do not need a perfect spiritual routine to grow closer to God.

Small daily habits matter more than you realize.

One prayer.
One scripture.
One worship song.
One moment of surrender.
One intentional decision at a time.

Faith grows gradually.

And over time, those small habits begin transforming:

  • Your mindset
  • Your peace
  • Your perspective
  • Your relationship with God
  • Your entire life

Keep showing up.
Keep seeking God.
Keep growing one day at a time. 🤍

Reflection Questions

  • What faith habit do I want to become more consistent with?
  • What distractions have been affecting my relationship with God?
  • What helps me feel spiritually connected to God?
  • What season is God currently growing me through?

Prayer

God,
Help me grow closer to You daily through small, consistent habits. Strengthen my faith, protect my peace, and help me seek You even during difficult seasons. Teach me to trust You more deeply and build a relationship with You that continues growing every day. Amen. 🤍
